Repousse |
Repousse (pronounced repoosay!) is the technique of raising complex shapes in sheet metal using special hammers and punches. By working from one side, then the other, one can progressively raise, and define the design. This is a time consuming, labour intensive technique, but it is an excellent way of adding a truly unique touch to a larger piece. Copper has properties which make it ideally suited to this technique. |
