Blog Continued.... |
October 2008. Glad to report I'm bucking the global trend and getting busier and busier right now. Canopies, birdguards and register plates great and small are the order of the day....I'd like to be doing a little more forgework, but hey you gotta make a living...and it's good not to be wasting the experience gained working at Culworth Forge. I'll be updating the canopy pages soon, having got a better picture of an inglenook canopy fitted recently. I'm also hoping to get some pictures of full width "mini" canopies up for you. On Saturday I'll be attending the unveiling of a repousse plaque I've made for our Village Hall to commemorate it's refurbishment and re dedication. Will get some pictures up once it's been revealed to the clients! I was forced to take a client to small claims court this month. I hate having to do that kind of stuff...and I'm grateful that nine times out of ten my faith in human nature is justified - and I've met some nice people through my work...but when people do try to take advantage I'm determined not to let'em get away with it. Had a neighbour arrive yesterday with a wheelbarrow full of twisted metal that used to be the bollards protecting his gateway. Thieving b*****ds had ripped them out, cut through several livestock fences and a hedge to steal his neighbours caravan. The audacity and nerve of these sods is unbelievable! The greater lengths one goes to to protect one's property, the more damage they do to get to it. Worst of all, those that can afford to be insured properly, rarely feel they can afford to claim, making the whole insurance business a bit of a joke... Another string to my bow - Am about to begin studying to qualify as a canine behaviour therapist. I've always been fascinated by the subject, and hope to slowly build a practice over the years to come, giving me something to fall back on if for any reason I can't carry on blacksmithing...unless ill health or money problems force it upon me, I can't imagine leaving metalbashing altogether...but can foresee a time when I may wish to spend a little less time in the workshop lifting heavy weights, breathing noxious fumes, burning, bruising and generally abusing myself! |
